McMillan Hall Staircase
The McMillan Hall Staircase existing on the north facade of the building facing the Snow Way Drive Parking Garage is a testament to the cliche phrase 'form follows function' and simultaneously guides visitors in a specific, clear way through the building. The staircase, composed of a glass-storefront outer shell, reaches approximately five stories tall and at night serves as a 'light beacon' against the dark Missouri granite of McMillan Hall. Even during the day one is drawn to this entrance off of Snow Way Drive due to the modern, sleek appearance of the staircase. Persons using this entrance should also be relatively comfortable navigating its landings as signs are regularly posted on each floor describing the different offices that call McMillan Hall home. Perhaps blatantly obvious, the staircase maximizes its efficiency through an unchanging square-footage due to the fact that each landing is a perfect copy of the one beneath/above it. This means that persons wishing to navigate from floor to floor in McMillan Hall would seek to use this staircase as often as possible in order to achieve the most efficient route through the building.
